Memorible Memorial Day Weekend
Every year Memorial Day takes me by surprise...like it sneaks up on me and I'm always pleasently surprised by a four day weekend :) and this year was no different, lol...hey why mess with a good thing.
So as usual I found myself scrambling late Thursday night to find last minute deals to get my getaway on...somewhere.... any freaking where for a night or two...it's been a long and challenging few weeks but I will get to that later. And then bam I found a last minute deal on Hotels.com (hint: get a the membership stay 10 places get a free stay or vacation) if you travel a lot it's a no brainer.
I found my way to Hotel Figueroa in DTLA...I work in downtown and have lived in the surrounding area (East Hollywood, Echo Park and now Boyle Heights) for over eight years so I thought it would be fun and not to mention a little cheaper to stay in dtla for the long weekend. And I am so glad that I choose Hotel Figueroa from the moment I walked in I felt so welcomed from the greeting I got from Karen at the front desk even upgrading me to a classic suite!!
When you are feeling kind of overwhelmed, sad and alone a simple act of kindness like an upgrade can feel like winning the lottery and Karen made me feel like I won a million bucks!
Okay so now I am staying in a super cute suite and fully unpacked I finally was able to take a deep breath and feel all my feelings that I had been pushing aside and keeping at bay about my very new and very challenging relationship. Disclaimer: I didn't figure out everything in two days that would have been nearly impossible...but I did get some distance which is good for perspective. Relationships are hard...relationships can make you feel like you can fly and sometimes they can make you feel like you want to die....hopefully it's more like you're flying rather than dying....for me it's been a mixed bag but we both still want to make it work. Here's hoping for the best. And if you're reading this post my dear...I love you and I love us we can figure out the rest together so we can fly higher and higher xoxo
So though I haven't found the secret to the meaning of life yet, I do know it's better to be pondering those questions together.
Happy Memorial Day weekend!
